Newby question on SV7

Post by ptan on Mon Jul 04 2011, 08:32

Hi All,

Is a internet connection required with the standard firmware to just get the FTA channels?
Is the standard firmware timed, i.e does it have the subscription i've read about?

I'm from Spain and use the boxes to just get the FTA channels, used to use SV5's but as I can't get them any more am looking at the SV7. These will be used in houses without internet, so will the work or is a internet connection really need with the standard firmware just for FTA?

A live TV connection is needed, connected the TV directly to the wall socket (no box) this used to be the case to receive FTA channels.

The firmware is not timed.

Before buying a SV cheaper to buy a "freeview" box cost about 20.00 with no subscription

Some new premises has wall sockets for free TV fitted

Hi Jonpc,

Thanks for that

I'm in Spain on a community that has cable TV wired in ( DVB-C ) so a freeview ( DVB-T ) box is no good.
Unless you know of a good DVB-C box for around 20 that is :-)

This is on Ebay 260811505528 ----190550875973

Just tried a old SV 1 box and all FTA channels are still working, firmware has not been update for over a year

Surprised that any SV box worked in Spain

Thanks Jonpc,

I'm not after just 1, need 50+ at a time. Used to use Sv4, then SV5's but they are getting hard to get as not made anymore.
